On March 25th, most of Ireland tuned into RTE 1, to watch the latest episode of Room to Improve. During the big reveal many of you may have noticed our very own Elisha sofas, King chair, Queen Anne Chair & footstool displayed in the home of Padraig & Katie.
This episode of Room to Improve makes it the second time this series that Finline Furniture has proudly featured in the popular TV Show.
In this episode of Room to Improve, viewers saw dairy farmer Padraig & school teacher Katie renovating their 100-year-old farmhouse in Tipperary which has scenic views overlooking the Galtee Mountains. Katie wanted a “functional” space that made the farmhouse more couple friendly & modern, four bedrooms, a dressing room, a downstairs bedroom, space for an 8ft long pink chaise longue & a living room.
After months of redesigns & an increasing budget, demolition began & the internal house was gutted. The next step for Katie & Padraig was to choose furniture. That’s where we came in. We had the pleasure to meet Katie & Padraig a few months ago when they visited our Factory Showroom in Emo, Co Laois. They wanted a contemporary feel rather than a traditional look, and most importantly something that was comfortable.
Our wonderful sales assistants helped them to choose their perfect sofa. We encourage all our customers to sit test all our sofas & the best way to do this is simply by sitting in all are sofas the same way you would sit at home. So if you slouch, put your feet up or simply just lie down on your sofa then do it all in the showroom. This will help you find your perfect sofa.
After a few sit tests, Katie fell in love with our Monroe/Madison sofa collection. We describe our Madison Sofa Collection as “tailored”. The arms are neat, the back cushions have a pleasing modern look, the angled side-cushions have a softening effect on the squareness of the sofa, & the base of the sofa is finished with a skirt (or without a skirt, known as The Monroe).
Padraig on the other hand fell in love with our Atlas Corner Sofa. Our Atlas Corner Collection features the highest back out of all the corner groups which gives great support. It looks squashy & inviting & is a great corner sofa to spend the long Irish winter’s in.
In the end, they found & fell in love with our Elisha Sofa. This Collection has neat arms & a bench seat cushion, which gives it a lovely sleek uninterrupted look. Even the back of the sofa is elegant & contemporary.
The next step was fabric. They both wanted something dynamic & to be able to withstand everyday use with easy maintenance that can cope with a farmers life. Looking through our many fabric books Katie & Padraig chose Tweed Navy which has a slight woollen feel with a herringbone effect running through it. This is a very hardwearing fabric & it really tied in with its country surroundings. This was then finished off nicely with scatter cushions in Aviemore Wedgewood Plaid.
Then it was on to the next room which was a tricky one with its vibrant pink chaise lounge. But after a visit to our Douglas Showroom in Cork she spotted our Queen Anne Chair displayed in a blue Pastiche fabric & thought this colour would match perfectly. And she wasn’t wrong. She ordered our King Chair, Queen Anne Chair & matching footstool all in the Pastiche fabric for her parlour room & wow, it really did look amazing!!
“My parents have 2 couches that were originally from Finline many years ago & they are a testament to the craftsmanship & quality from buying Irish with Finline” – Katie
