Our managing Director Kieran Finane was the leading sales representative with foam company Vita Cortex. While visiting furniture manufacturers all over Ireland Kieran realised there was nobody making top quality Sofas & Chairs to compete with famous English manufacturers of the time. Kieran with his wife Bridget bought an area of land near the Village of Emo in Co. Laois with their small savings and a little help from the bank. Together with their young family they moved from Dublin to Laois to follow their dream.
Finline Furniture had earned a reputation as the must-have brand for furniture retailers in Ireland. The factory was expanded to three times its original size with an ability to produce 25 suites a week. Finline stocked Arnotts & Caseys in Cork almost exclusively.
Finline Furniture began exporting product to the UK. By 1994, the factory was once again expanded to cover 35,000 square feet with the ability to produce 100 suites a week. Finline Furniture also began supplying leading Department store Brown Thomas in Dublin
Finline Furniture opened its doors to the public for the first time. New showrooms were built with the help of designer Celine Cole and leading UK based Showroom Designer Gavin Howarth.
In addition to making furniture for the finest retails stores in the UK and Ireland, customers could also visit our factory showrooms and buy directly.
Finline began exporting our product to high-end furniture stores in China and also passed the milestone of exporting to over 25 countries across the globe.
To meet demand Finline Furniture opened a new retail store on the Long Mile Rd in Dublin. We were also chosen as the exclusive supplier to G8 Summit of World Leaders in Lough Erne Resort. There the likes of Obama, Merkel & Cameron sat on our comfortable sofas and chairs and discussed world issues.
Finline Furniture opened its own store on the Long Mile Road in Dublin. These showrooms were designed by UK based Showroom Designer Gavin Howarth.
Finline celebrated 35 years in business. Kieran Finane accompanied by sons Ciaran and Kilian Finane and with the amazing Finline staff continue the tradition of making Irelands best Sofas & Chairs.
Finline Furniture became the first Irish company to exhibit at the exclusive Shanghai International furniture fair. Orders received from such diverse locations as Taiwan, Mongolia and Moscow.
Following the success of our Long Mile Showrooms in Dublin we decided the time was right to bring our handmade sofas and chairs back to Cork. After 25 years of selling our product through Caseys in Cork & Limerick, the people of Munster can now buy our 100% Irishmade furniture directly from the manufacturer at affordable prices.
We extended our Dublin showroom from 3,000 sq ft to over 8,000 sq foot. We did this for two purposes – 1) to show off the full Finline Collection and 2) to introduce a new Irishmade company doing Cabinet (hard) Furniture.Finline. As part of our recent refurbishment and extension, Woodlands Furniture has taken floor space alongside us.
For many years we have had customers from the West travelling a long distance to our factory in Laois and requesting that we open a premises in Galway. In early 2018 we started the process of looking at locations in Galway to open new showrooms and identified an excellent premises on the busy Tuam Road (opposite Travelodge). In September 2018 we opened our doors in Galway following a big refurbishment and fit-out of the premises
Celebrating 40 Years in Business
Like our Upholsteres, many of Finline Furniture Sewers have huge experience. It takes extreme skill to work with upholstery fabrics. Different models require different skills depending on whether they are self piped, self seamed or corded. Finline Furniture use state of the art sewing machines to ensure our end product is made to the highest standards.
Our Furniture Upholsterers have a minimum of 10 years employment with Finline Furniture. Many have been working longer. Making Handcrafted Furniture takes huge skill and is extremely time-consuming. It takes years to hone this craft to perfection. We have confidence that our Upholsterers in Ireland are as skilled as anywhere in the world
Our Fabric Cutters
Fabric arrives into Finline Furniture direct from Mills all over the world in roll form. Following
inspection we have two ways of cutting the fabric, by hand or by machine. It takes years of working
with fabrics to understand how they should be cut. Because each piece we manufacture is made to order in a
fabric especially chosen by you – our cutters need to match the stripes or patterns on the back
cushion to the front border. This is not pot luck, it comes with years of experience working with
detailed and expensive fabrics.
