40 Years of Finline!
In 1979, in the small village of Emo, County Laois, Kieran Finane and his wife Bridget opened Finline Furniture. A small factory that would create the finest handcrafted sofas and chairs in Ireland.
A Rathdowney native, Kieran was the leading sales representative with a foam company. While visiting furniture manufacturers all over Ireland, Kieran realised there was nobody making top quality Sofas and Chairs to compete with famous English manufacturers of the time. Kieran and Bridget, together with their young family then moved from Dublin to Laois to follow their dream.
By 1980, Finline had earned a reputation as the must-have brand for furniture retailers in Ireland. The factory was expanded to three times its original size with an ability to produce 25 suites a week. Finline stocked Arnotts & Caseys in Cork almost exclusively.
The factory was once again expanded in 1994, to cover 35,000 square feet with the ability to produce 100 suites a week. Finline Furniture also began supplying leading Department store Brown Thomas in Dublin
Fast-forward to 2011, Finline opened its doors to the public for the first time and allowed them to buy directly. New showrooms were built with the help of designer Celine Cole and leading UK based Showroom Designer Gavin Howarth.
Today, Kieran’s sons; Ciaran and Kilian, run the company and with the help of their loyal customers, Finline has proved to be “the home of Irish sofas & chairs”. Finline Furniture now employs over 50 hardworking people and has 4 Showrooms, showcasing their handmade furniture, located in Dublin, Cork, Galway and their Factory Showroom in Co Laois.
