On Sunday, March 11th, saw the whole nation tuned into RTE’s Room to Improve. Fans of Finline watching the latest episode may have noticed a familiar sight in the family’s living room. After the big reveal viewers had a chance to marvel at our very own Bespoke Colorado Corner Sofa. And wow! It looked great!
For those of you who don’t know, Room to Improve is a factual entertainment series broadcast on RTÉ ONE. Presented by Architect Dermot Bannon, every Sunday at 9:30pm. Dermot attempts to improve Ireland’s homes within the confines of a budget.
We saw Dermot, arrive at the small seaside town of Portrane in North County Dublin to embark on his next project to redesign an old family home.
Sisters Anna & Marion along with their 81-year-old mother Mary (better known to everyone as “Ma”) and Anna’s son Michael have spent a scenic childhood in their home located on a private headland with spectacular views of Lambay Island. But now it was in dire need of an upgrade if it’s to accommodate the 3 generations under the one roof.
Viewers watched as a good part of the property got completely demolished with Anna & Marion joining in with sledgehammers to attempt to save money. They actually did most of the demolishing before the builders even got to site.
Dermot’s design involved creating a whole new extension joining on to the existing house which was itself totally refurbished & redesigned. In the new structure the one thing they wanted was a view of Lambay Island which they never had from anywhere in the house so Dermot made a raised level for a seating area. This was where we came in.
We had the pleasure to meet the sisters a few weeks ago when they visited our Factory Showroom in Emo, Co Laois. They wanted something to be able to relax in, read a book & to enjoy the new views of the sea, so comfort was their main objective. They were also after a contemporary piece with a specific size & most importantly, budget was very important.
Anna gave us the room measurements & our very helpful sales assistant, Vanessa suggested a few sofas that would suit their space & style. After a few sit tests to find her comfort, they fell in love with our Colorado Corner Sofa with a chrome foot finish. When they selected their Finline Piece their next job was to choose fabric. At Finline, we have over 4,000 fabrics to choose from.
They wanted an easy colour to match other colours with, a fabric to withstand everyday use with easy maintenance that can cope with themselves & their two dogs. Our sales assistant, Vanessa showed them a range of fabrics that suited their needs. After a while Anna settle on our fine & very durable fabric – Ado Bark.
The sofa fitted like a glove into its new surroundings & when we met up with them all after the show they were extremely happy with the way the sofa turned out. They were delighted at how durable it really was & so easy to maintain.
We hope the Lynders family have many a happy time enjoying the views from the comfort of their new Finline sofa for many years to come!!
“The quality & finish is superb. I searched Ireland for the perfect sofa & found it in Finline. I was determined to have an Irish made one as I believe in our own craftsmanship” – Anna Lynders
