Have you heard of Hygge?
Its a Danish concept, hygge, its hard to explain and even harder to say correctly, simply pronounced as ‘hoo-ga’ it’s a simply idea of enjoying the simple things in life, by embracing a way of life that surrounds yourself with ease, comfort and happiness.
The word itself roughly translates to ‘coziness’. The word hygge was shortlisted by Oxford Dictionary as word of the year in 2016. But what exactly is hygge? Candles? Wooly Sock? There so much to this unique Danish idea, we will take you though a few…..
How to bring hygge to you home
Your home should be a tranquil place; somewhere you can be relaxed, warm and happy. There is nothing that beats sinking into a big, comfy sofa. We recommend our stunningly gorgeous Colorado Corner Chaise, its soft and deep. You can add many more seats, which means there’s plenty of room to stretch out, or fit all your friends or family around you. By adding cushions and throws you can introduce soft textures, you can then sink in to your sofa, with your best socks and indulge in a delicious homemade hot chocolate. Dim the lights and use those beautifully scented candles, to create a calm, warm & chilled out atmosphere.
With so much data we have to process daily our lives can be so overwhelming, sometimes we just have to stop and take a breath. Take the time to have a lunch break and turn your phone off for half an hour. Relax!
Hygge is all about balance, it may sound awesome and very appealing to spend all of our time curled up on your bespoke Finline sofa, but get out to the fresh air and stretch those legs.
The smell of freshly baked bread can bring the whole family into the kitchen, this is the whole essence of Hygge, and can also give you a real sense of happiness and accomplishment.
FEED YOUR FRIENDS
Being surrounded by the people can make you feel good, so invite those friends and family over share the food, love and laughter, and feel fulfilled!
READ A BOOK
But sometimes, it’s great to escape and wants to be alone. Make this time to turn off the TV and pick up a book even if it’s for 20 minutes. For the perfect reading chair, check out of Queen Anne chair.
It’s time to snuggle up on the sofa
All sounds good? Right? Who wouldn’t want to be more happy with their life. Simplicity is the key with Hygge – it’s about making things easier and being happy with everything and everyone around you; appreciating the small things in life
