Corner Sofas – Optimise Your Comfort, Space and Budget
Finline Furniture hand-craft an extensive range of corner sofas. Customers in Ireland are often surprised at both the level of options they have in terms of designing their own corner sofa and the fact that the cost can be surprisingly low, compared with full three piece suites. They are ideal for the home, hospitality space or office reception.
If you’re considering a corner sofa for your home, the first critical piece of advice we give to customers is to;
Bring measurements of the room and a simple, indicative drawing of where the features are located
Features include doors, windows, fireplaces and any other element that should be considered when designing suitable corner units. The position of the TV is often an important factor.
Optimise Your Comfort
Obviously we handcraft corner sofas in terms of dimensions but there are many other options to consider – no need to feel over-whelmed though as we have inhouse professional interior designers working in each of our showrooms – in Dublin, Cork and Emo, Laois – and they can guide you through the process. But it’s well worth reading through this guide initially so you can start to work through the choices.
- Number and Type of Units
Corner units are modular and customers may combine them in a variety of ways – typically you can choose from single units, two seaters and three seaters (with and without arms). You can choose a chaise-end (day bed) or create an L-shaped by using a combination of modular pieces. Some people even creat a U shape which fills our really big rooms. Complimentary furniture is also available within the groups and this may include stand-alone chairs, islands and footstools or sofas to match cobination. Islands and footstools are often used as highly convenient storage units.
- Length and Depth
We offer a number of different Groups of corner sofas (see more below) and for each Group there is a standard depth that defines the style. Within each Group however, the length of the units are totally bespoke and can be specified in line with the space you have.
- Cushion density
Some people like firm cushions while others want a more “relaxed” feel and look to their corner sofa. If you choose a fibre-fill, the cushions will be super-soft. A medium foam is the most popular as people find these cushions both sufficiently supportive yet comfy. If you’re unlucky enough to suffer from a bad back, the extra support of a firm cushion might be best. We also find a higher seat and/or a higher back cushion can be more comfortable for some people with bad backs as these can provide more support to the upper lumber.
- Choice of Fabrics
You can choose any of the fabrics sold in our showrooms and you’ll find lots of useful information on our website to get yourself informed before you visit us. See our guide to choosing an upholstery fabric, check out the pricing options and look into the aftercare recommendations – there’s plenty more too!
If you visit the showrooms, not only can you discuss these options with professionals, you can also try out the corner sofas that we have on display.
Optimise the Space
Over the years we have a developed a number Corner Groups to suit the different types of space to be filled and the styles that customers have demanded. Here’s the current selection and of course use the links to see the galleries, dimensions and price lists for each one;
This is designed for “true comfort” and offers a relaxing haven of deep comfy seats
This modern group is both sleek and contemporary, with narrow arms, so doesn’t take up too much space.
If you’re looking for added back support, this is a great option and it comes with luxury padded arms too. A very popular corner sofa and also standalone sofa.
- Nolan Chaise
Legs on corner sofas make rooms look bigger – it’s a useful trick for tight spaces and the Nolan chaise offers a range of options for its legs (finishes in pine, mahogany etc) as well as the units themselves. This model is a sofa with the add on of a day bed or chaise end.
- Colorado Chaise
The Colorando group offers deep comfortable seats that you can really sprawl out on!
If you’re looking for something more formal and conventional – the Aslan will fit the bill perfectly. Its neat arms and relatively shallow depth are a huge feature.
Optimise Your Budget
You’ll be surprised to learn what great value our bespoke furniture is! Corner sofas offer the ideal opportunity for you to put your own mark on a room and design something perfect for your taste, space and pocket. Our groups range in price from about €1,450 for a 3 seater, two seater combination (with arms) up to about €2,500 for the higher end bigger corner Groups. Typically the Como is a low cost option and the Atlas is at the more luxurious end in terms of pricing.
